OTP Verification

  • You’ll quickly get a 6-digit OTP (one-time password) on your mobile number. 
  • You have to enter the OTP on the website so the sassa will know that this is your number and you are using it currently.

Complete And Submit Your Application

  • You have completed your application, and your request is ready to submit. 
  • Now, you can click on the submit button to submit your application.

You can apply for the grant by visiting the SASSA office near you. The method is given below.

Get the Form

  • First, go to the nearest SASSA office
  • Ask for the application form, and the sassa workers will give you the form.

  • If you’re single, your property can’t be worth more than R1,372,800. 
  • If you’re married, everything together can’t be worth more than R2,745,600.

The Means Test for the War Grant is used to check how much money and things you own before getting this grant. This test is used to make sure the grant goes to only those people who need it.

  • You shouldn’t be earning more than R96,840 in a year if you’re single. If you’re married, you and your partner should earn no more than R193,680 in a year.

  • If you’re single, your things (like your house, car, savings) shouldn’t be worth more than R1,372,800.
  • If you’re married, everything you and your partner own shouldn’t be worth more than R2,745,600.

Documents Required For SASSA Veterans Grant

When you go to the SASSA office to apply for the War Veterans Grant, make sure to have the following documents with you. You can take either the originals or certified copies.

  • Service Proof: Bring proof that you were in the war, such as medals or official papers.
  • ID Card: Bring your 13-digit ID. If you don’t have an ID Card, you can bring a letter signed by a community leader, school head, council member, or social worker instead. You can also use your passport, birth certificate, or driver’s license as your ID.
  • Medical Report: If you have a disability, please bring a medical report from your doctor explaining why you cannot work. This will serve as your proof of disability.
  • Residential Address: Please bring any document showing where you live, such as a utility bill or a letter with your home address on it.
  • Marital Status: Please bring the necessary documents to show whether you’re married, divorced, widowed, or single.
  • Income Proof: Please bring proof of all your earnings and possessions. If you’re married, also bring your spouse’s proof. This includes proof of any property you own, whether through the municipality or private, and bank statements from the last three months.

Other Needed Documents

  • Your payslips if you work, or your bank statements from the last three months.
  • Your UIF card if you’re getting UIF money.
  • If you were employed before, bring a paper from your old job that shows you’re part of UIF.
  • If you get pension money, bring that receipt.
  • If you have investments, show how much money you make from them.
  • Any papers that show things you own.
